Christopher Reid is a Ph.D. student in Comparative Literary Studies and German. In his work, he is focusing on the "Bildungsroman" with particular emphasis on the thematic and critical intersection between self development and the rise of Capitalism. He spent two years at Universität Mannheim in Germany, where he taught several courses in addition to doing research on his dissertation topic, the title of which is "Geist und Geld im Bildungsroman: 1785-1925." Chris spent the 2004-2005 academic year at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris as part of an NU exchange program. Currently he is teaching courses back here at Northwestern and finishing up his dissertation.
