Denise M. Meuser is a Senior Lecturer
in the Department of German. She received her B.A. in
German from DePaul University and a M.A. in Germanic
Studies from Indiana University. She has taught elementary
and intermediate courses for the college since 1991 and
is currently the Coordinator for the Elementary German
program. She teaches two conversation
courses each year that focus on improving skills at the intermediate level. She has co-produced, with
Ingrid Zeller and Franziska Lys, an interactive architecture
tour of Chicago for students of German entitled Bauhaus
and Beyond.
She is an active member of the Council on
Language Instruction and serves on the Funds
committee.
She is interested in the study of second language acquisition and regularly attends workshops and conferences that focus on such topics as technology in the classroom, content-based instruction, and oral language assessment.
In her role as a Freshmen Adviser to students
in the combined Weinberg College – School of Music
Program, she hopes to make the task of creating a balanced
program in two
schools less daunting.
She is the proud mother of two children,
an active PTA member and an avid gardener.
